My trajectory into becoming a fitness professional was a rather cliché one. I was obese as a child and teen, and like so many others, grew up eating for taste and convenience and choosing leisure over activity. In my teens, I decided I wanted to lose weight (for girls—not my health). I lost nearly 90 lbs in a summer, and that blossomed into a volatile relationship with food that would persist for years to come. Fortunately, I was able to leverage that into an understanding of food, and eating behaviors that extend well beyond simply assigning a meal plan, or "macros." I have dedicated portions of my adult and young adult life to nearly every avenue of exercise there is: powerlifting, bodybuilding, calisthenics, martial arts and boxing, functional movement, and many other obscurities I’m not even at liberty to mention. My professional specialties often reflect my eclectic interests, as I’m not just a Certified Personal Trainer, but also a Nutrition Coach, Weight Loss Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Boxing Coach, Sports Conditioning Specialist, Group Personal Trainer, and even a Stretching Specialist. I aim to coach people to see root causes and bigger pictures instead of demanding obedience to a rigid plan. I’ve coached youth athletics all the way to advanced years, and every age and goal in between. I enjoy working with a broad range of people, but specialize in busy professionals, behavioral change and fat loss, “functional” strength, and online coaching.
